Cable Network:
Can I watch TV and use Markdale Cable TV at the same time?
Yes. You can surf the Web, watch TV and talk on the phone, all at the same time.
Will Markdale Cable TV install new cable in my neighbourhood?
No. Markdale Cable TV uses existing cable lines.
I want Markdale Cable TV and I already have a cable outlet. Is it still necessary to install another line?
Yes. You'll still need a second cable outlet. The cable connection to a cable modem is a dedicated outlet wired from the box outside your house to the modem. The outlet has been carefully tested by the cable installer for any possible problems that would interfere with your Markdale Cable TV service but would never affect your normal television reception.
How does the cable modem connect to my computer?
The cable modem is an external device that connects to your computer's 10-base T Ethernet port.
How can I get cable from the TV in my living room to the PC in my bedroom?
Since both data and television signals travel on the same physical cable, you require a cable splitter to provide multiple connections. To avoid the potential of introducing noise to the system, a cable technician will install the splitter and cable outlet in the second location. If you've already installed splitters or cabling, a technician will perform quality assurance tests to make sure it's operational.
Network Architecture:
Will speed suffer as the Markdale Cable TV membership increases?
No. The Markdale Cable TV Network is shared, however, since it is scalable, we add extra capacity as more members join.
